It’s been a while since I last tuned into this era of King Crimson. As someone who absolutely loves the John Wetton and Greg Lake eras, Islands hasn’t always been my first choice when reaching for a Crimson record. Before…
About
J.Edmond
Award-winning singer-songwriter. Storyteller. Recording artist.
J.Edmond is a 27-year-old singer-songwriter, storyteller, and recording artist from Prospect, Connecticut, whose music is rooted in honest songwriting, emotional storytelling, resilience, and the complicated beauty of being human.
In August 2026, J.Edmond was named Songwriter of the Year at the International Singer Songwriters Association (ISSA) Awards in Atlanta, bringing international recognition back to his hometown and the Connecticut music community. The award capped a remarkable year for an artist who continues to turn life’s unexpected chapters into songs.
A heart attack survivor who was diagnosed with autism at 26, J.Edmond has never shied away from the difficult parts of his story. Instead, he uses songwriting and storytelling to explore personal growth, mental health, identity, adversity, connection, and the experiences that often go unspoken.
His latest EP, Burnt Swamp Road, released August 8, 2026, is an intimate acoustic record centered on J.Edmond’s own songwriting and performance. He is currently preparing his next album through Jebb's Music, his own one person label, with collaborations featuring musicians including Fernando Perdomo, Paul Chastain, Danny Henry, A. Michael Collins, and others.
J.Edmond’s songwriting has earned significant recognition beyond his ISSA win. He was a 9-time finalist for the 2026 ISSA Awards and a 7-time finalist in 2025, and was nominated for a 2026 Josie Music Award in the Social Impact category for his commitment to using music and storytelling to foster connection, understanding, and hope.
His influences span generations and genres, from The Beatles and Badfinger to the power pop and alternative sounds of the 1990s, while his own work continues to evolve through acoustic songwriting, Americana, rock, and contemporary singer-songwriter traditions.
Beyond music, J.Edmond is pursuing a degree in Social Media Marketing through Southern New Hampshire University and was accepted to Berklee College of Music. He is also the author of the upcoming fantasy novel Journey to Starlights, a fictionalized reflection of his journey as an artist navigating creativity, adversity, identity, and self-discovery.
J.Edmond’s creative work extends into broadcasting as well. He created and used to host Unlikely Places, an independent music and culture program focused on music discovery, artist conversations, and stories from unexpected places. His broadcasting background includes work with Connecticut radio stations 99.1 PLR and Star 99.9. Through interviews and conversations with artists, J.Edmond has built another avenue for connecting people through music and storytelling.
Whether he’s standing on a stage in Connecticut, accepting an award in Atlanta, writing a song, recording an album, telling a story, or creating a world through fiction, J.Edmond’s work centers on one simple idea:
People deserve to feel seen, heard, and understood.
From Prospect to Atlanta and wherever the road leads next, J.Edmond is continuing to write the next chapter.
Music. Stories. Connection. Keep looking for the light.
